Ford is recalling about 40,000 minivans because their wheel hubs may develop cracks.
The recall affects 35,401 Ford Freestar minivans and 4,630 Mercury Montereys, both from the 2004 model year, Ford spokesman Glenn Ray said.
The auto maker recalled about 24,000 Freestar and Monterey minivans from the same model year last November, due to defective power steering pressure lines.
Separately, Ford is also recalling about 1,700 of its 2004 model-year F-150 pickup trucks because of defective fuel tanks. The pickups are being recalled because of the possibility of a fuel leak through the seams of the tank, Ray said.
The trucks were built between March 4 and May 26, 2004. This is the second recall involving the 2004 model-year F-150s. Ford recalled about 400 vehicles in April citing the same defect, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. No accidents or injuries have been linked to any of the recalls, Ray said.
