We've tried extremely hard to develop a system which will assist you in finding a vehicle to suit your personal needs, or sell a vehicle easily, and conformably. This help/FAQ has been developed to answer common questions you may have. 

Throughout the web site, pages include a help link in the top right corner which will take you to an appropriate section of this document. Hopefully, this will help answer any questions you may have.

Why do I need a membership?

You do not need a membership to search our vehicle database or view information about a vehicle. However memberships are required if you want to advertise your vehicle. Also, along with membership comes the auto-search capability of a vehicle alert, which will periodically check our database for vehicles matching your desired criteria. Memberships to our site are FREE.

What is an "Alert"?

We understand that not finding your vehicle can be frustrating, and having to continually check the site for newly added vehicles steals precious time from your day. An alert is a search, as defined by you, which periodically runs by our system. Vehicles matching your criteria are processed as you decide. 

You have to be logged in to create an alert. To create an alert, you perform a normal vehicle search specifying the criteria for the vehicle for which your interested. All the matching vehicles within the database will be shown for your review. If no vehicles suit your requirements, then this is an opportunity to create and alert.

On the bottom of the search results, there is a link to "create an alert". When selected, you are presented with the add alert page. Some details about your search are presented. Not all of your search criteria may be displayed, however, all of your search criteria is remembered and will be applied. 

You have three options for matching vehicles found by the alert. You can have them added to your clipboard, you can have the system send you an email, or you can have the system send dealerships which own the vehicle a notification indicating your interest in the vehicle. The dealership will only receive the information you allow to be displayed on the site. 

When the alert runs, only newly added vehicles are checked. It is suggested that you are as explicit as possible when identifying your vehicle criteria. This will ensure only close matches to what you want will be processed.

What does it cost to advertise?

Our Internet listings are FREE.  You can list up to X vehicles. Each listing will be retained in our database for 45 days and can be renewed, free of charge, at any time.  We will send you an e-mail when your listing is about to expire, if you do not renew your listing it will be automatically expired, and removed from the system.

Our new system now allows you to add photos to your vehicle listing for FREE. This should be good news because listings with photos attract an average of 3 times more interest than those without. Click here to find out how to add a photo to your listing.

How do I create an online vehicle ad?

You must be registered and logged in to ad your vehicle as an online vehicle ad. From the main page or using the top menu bar, you can select 'My Vehicles' which will take you to a window which lists your vehicles for sale. To add a vehicle, select the 'Add a new Vehicle' link in the bottom left of the window. This will start a 'wizard-like' process, stepping  you through the process of defining your vehicle for sale. 

The initial screen asks for the year, make, model and model trim of your vehicle. Using the combo boxes, select your vehicle information and select continue.

Why do I have to choose my vehicle make and model first?

You have to identify to the system the make, model and year of the vehicle your trying to sell first. This information is used to determine the type of the vehicle (car, truck, van, SUV, etc). Different information is provided to you to assist you in defining your vehicle based on the vehicle type. For example, if the vehicle your trying to sell is a truck, then options such as 'box liners' will be displayed.

What if I can't find my vehicle's make or model?

Sometimes, our system doesn't know about your vehicle. We try to keep our system as comprehensive as possible, but sometimes, especially if your vehicle is an import or an exotic car, the vehicle does not exist in our database. 

If you cannot find the vehicle make and model, select the 'I cannot find my vehicle' link on the lower left of the window. This will open a new form through which you can tell us about your vehicle. We need to know the make, model, year, and vehicle type of the vehicle. If you have other comments which can assist us in defining the vehicle, these would be greatly appreciated. 

We queue these requests and process them daily. As soon as we have defined your vehicle, we will contact you and let you know so you can insert your vehicle into the system.

How do I create an online vehicle ad (part 2)?

After choosing the vehicle make, model and model trim, your presented with a form allowing you to define the details of the vehicle. There are a lot of fields you can fill in to describe your vehicle, and it is recommended that you fill in as many as possible. Fields marked with a red star are required fields and must have a value. 

Our system will assist you in defining you vehicle by trying to limit the combo boxes based on vehicle your trying to sell. You can turn these features off using the links at the top of the window. However, keep in mind you will then be presented with many options for each detail (such as transmission), and some of the choices may not be possible for your vehicle. 

Once you have provided as many details as possible, select continue. Don't forget to determine the price!

How do I create an online vehicle ad (part 3)?

Based on the vehicle your trying to sell, a list of options will be provided. Select any options which are present on your vehicle by checking the checkbox beside the appropriate option. 

Once you have selected all the appropriate options, select continue. Your now done. The vehicle has been saved to the database and will be presented to the searching public. The thank you message includes a link to add pictures. If you have pictures, and wish to add them to the site, select this link now.

How do I see the vehicles I have for sale?

You must be registered and logged in to see your vehicles for sale. From the main page or using the top menu bar, you can select 'My Vehicles' which will take you to a window which lists your vehicles for sale. 

You can edit or delete the vehicle information from this page by choosing the edit or delete link beside the vehicle listed. Notice on this screen, you should see the date on which the vehicle will be expired from the system.

How do I change my vehicle ad information?

Once you have selected the edit link from the 'My Vehicles' screen, you will see the vehicle information be displayed in a manner similar to the vehicle details. The only difference is that the screen includes links to allow you to edit portions of the information. The links provided are:

  • Edit Details (top right on the grey bar above the vehicle details);

  • Edit Options (middle right on the grey bar above the vehicle options);

  • Edit Images (Underneath the image on the grey bar)

When you select the link, you will be taken back to the screen originally used to enter the vehicle's information. You can change the information on the screen and select done. The changes will be displayed for your review.

On this screen you see all the images associated with your vehicle. Each image includes below a text indicator as to whether it has been approved, rejected, or is pending approval. Under the image, you are presented with statistics regarding your vehicle: the number of times the vehicle has been viewed, and the number of times it has been returned in a search. This will give you some idea as to the vehicle's penetration into the public's searches.

How do I attach a picture to my ad?

If you didn't select to add images from the thank you message displayed after defining your vehicle, the you can add images by editing your vehicle details. More information on this topic is provided here .

When you select the 'Edit Images' link from the vehicle details screen, you will see all images associated with your vehicle, including the text description indicating whether the image is approved, rejected, or pending approval. If your image is rejected, the reason for the rejection should be displayed. More information regarding this is available here.

How can I renew my vehicle ad?

 Just above the statistics is a link to renew the vehicle for another period. This link is only shown if the vehicle is about to expire. If you have received an email indicating the vehicle is about to expire, then this link will be displayed and you can use it to extend ad.

Why is my picture not being displayed on the site?

Either the image has just been uploaded and it is pending approval, or the image has been rejected. This can be determined from the vehicle details screen. 

Typically, images are rejected because they have poor quality, or their content is questionable. If your image has been rejected, try uploading a different image of the vehicle.

How do I search for a vehicle?

To get to the search page, you can choose the 'search for a vehicle' link on the home page, or the 'search vehicles' link on the header menu. The initial screen is for a simple search, with which you can specify: your desired vehicle's make, model, year, odometer range, price, and the locations in which you would like the search to be limited.

All the details you specify will be used to restrict your search results. It is recommended that you limit your search by providing details about the vehicle in which your interested. Try to identify the location best suited for you as this will significantly impact the speed of the search. 

If you want to specify more details about your desired vehicle, you can select the 'Advanced' link on the bottom left portion of the window.

What is an advanced search?

An advance search allows you to specify more details about the vehicle for which your interested. You can identify such items as the drive train, the transmission, the body style, and the options. 

All vehicle attributes selected on the advanced tab are used to weight the search results. The vehicles which have the most matching criteria are listed first in the search results.

Explain the search results page?

If you have performed an advanced search, the vehicles listed first are those which best match your desired requirements. You should notice that the first column is a match indicator showing just how close the vehicle is to your desired requirements. If you have performed a simple search, the match column is not displayed.

If the vehicle has images, an image icon will appear next to the vehicle. All vehicles can be added to your clipboard using the clipboard icon. More info regarding the clipboard can be found here .

The search results are limited due to the numbers of the vehicles in the system. If your search results resulted in more that the limit, you should try being more detailed in your search requirements.

What is the clipboard and how does it work?

The clipboard allows you to identify a vehicle so you may look at the vehicle later. On any vehicle listing screen, the clipboard icon should be displayed beside each vehicle. In the case where the clipboard icon is blue, the vehicle is not in your clipboard. If the clipboard includes a red check, then the vehicle has been added to your clipboard. 

You can view all the vehicles in your clipboard by selecting the clipboard link from the home page, or using the clipboard link on the header menu. Vehicles added to the clipboard by and alert are indicated as such by a yellow exclamation icon. You can remove vehicles from your clipboard from the clipboard page, but they are not removed from the listing until after you refresh the page. 

You do NOT need to be logged in to use the clipboard feature as it is enabled through cookies. However, vehicles added to your clipboard are only in your clipboard from the computer on which the vehicle was added. If an alert has added vehicles to your clipboard, they are only transferred to your clipboard after you have logged on to the system.

How do I register or change my registration information?

To register, select the 'Sign Up' link under the members area on the left side of the screen. This will open a form requesting your personal information. Please refer to our privacy policy and terms of service regarding the details of the information being requested, why, etc. 

All fields which are required are indicated with a red star. Through this form, you can indicate what information of yours will be used throughout the site to allow people to contact you. This is done through the checkmarks beside your contact information (email, phone numbers). 

While we do not require your address, you do have to indicate your nearest city. This is used to identify where the vehicles you have for sale are located, and helps in personalizing the site experience for you.  

You must choose a password for the system. The password is used with the email address to allow us to identify you as a user. As with any username and password, it is recommended that you keep that password confidential. It is good practice to use a different password for on-line web sites compared to a network login such as what you may have at work.

You can change your registration information at anytime by selecting 'My Account' from the home page, or the members area. You cannot change your information until you have successfully logged on to the site.

What do I do if I've forgotten my password?

If you have forgotten your password, you should go to the login page, type in your email address, and select the link 'I have forgotten my password'. Your password will be emailed to the email address typed in. If you are not registered, or your account has expired, you will forwarded to the registration page.

How do I search for a dealership?

Select 'Find Dealers' from the home page or the header bar menu. This will open a form which will allow you to specify the details about the dealership for which your interested. 

If you know the name of the dealership, you can type it in. You can type in the first couple of letters for the dealership, and this will suffice as well. All dealerships which have names beginning with what you have typed in will be displayed. If you do not know the name of a dealership, you can choose a location, and the manufacturer for which you're interested. Select the Search link on the bottom right of the window. 

All dealerships which match your criteria are listed for your review. If you select the dealership, specific information regarding the dealership is provided.

Can I see details about a specific dealership? 

After locating the dealership through the find dealer, and selecting the dealership which interested you, their specific information will be displayed. The dealerships information, a map to their location, and some contact information will all be provided.

Can I see the dealerships entire inventory?

A link to list all of the dealership's inventory is provided on the bottom left of the dealership details screen. After selecting the link, all the dealership's vehicles will be displayed.

How do I submit an ad to the newspaper?

You must be logged in in order to submit an ad and have a vehicle created first. If you do not have a vehicle created and would like to know how please click here .

If you have a vehicle defined on the site, you can select the 'Submit to media' link on the vehicle listings page. This begins the process of defining your ad. You'll need to make a few choices throughout this process.

You will be presented with a list of the editions. If there are more than one, click the link 'Choose style for this edition' beside the edition for which you want to submit your ad.

You will be presented with style options for the paper. Select the style which you prefer.
You will be presented with the ad text. You can edit the ad text through the edit link by the text itself. As well, you'll see the next 4 available paper runs. You may submit your ad in any combination of these runs.

You will be presented with the final summary. Once this is confirmed, you will be sent to the payment gateway for payment. After payment is complete, your ad is added to the system for the selected edition run dates.

How can I see my submission history?

To view your account of how many classifieds have been placed in your name. Click on 'Classified Summary', here you can view which vehicles have been placed in the media. The status will be 'Pending' for any classified ad for which payment has not yet been received. You can reattempt to submit payment through this page.

What is the Feedback form?

The feedback form provides you with a means to communicate back to us regarding the site. We welcome all feedback from our clients and use their comments in planning, designing, and enhancing the site. We'd appreciate any amount of feedback you can provide.

You don't need to be logged in to send us a feedback, but you do have to provide us with an email address. Any information you provide will be kept confidential and used as defined in the privacy policy.

What is the dealership registration form?

Dealership Registration is intended to provide dealerships with a means to become a registered dealer. Registered dealers have a management application which allow them to manage their inventory, information displayed on the site, their banner, and logo. There are many other advantages to being a registered dealership.

What is the Quick Find Code?

The Quick Find Code can be found in the top left hand corner of the vehicle details page. The quick find code gives you quick and easy access to any vehicle you wish to review. Simply enter the Quick Find Code in the space provided, press go and the vehicle details page will appear displaying the corresponding vehicle.
